Recent findings from the HMS-PICC/midline data suggest that while midlines had a lower risk of major device complications compared to PICCs in patients receiving Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT), midlines have a high risk of serious device-related events and failure compared to PICCs in OPAT patients receiving Vancomycin. HMS hosted a webinar to review the data on the ability to safely deliver Vancomycin via midlines. We also discussed safe alternatives to OPAT.
