Coordinating Center Physicians Publish Manuscript on Limiting the Number of Lumens in PICC Catheters

Vineet Chopra, MD, MSc, Scott Flanders, MD, and others recently published a manuscript in Infection and Control & Hospital Epidemiology entitled, Limiting the Number of Lumens in Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters to Improve Outcomes and Reduce Cost: A Simulation Study.  They conclude that hospital policies that limit number of PICC lumens may enhance patient safety and reduce healthcare costs.
